8 Tips to Turn Back Time: Unlock a Youthful Glow Naturally

Aging is a natural part of life, but how we age is often in our hands. By making mindful choices each day—nourishing our bodies, staying active, and embracing nature’s rhythms—we can feel vibrant, strong, confident and energized at any stage of life.

Here are eight simple yet powerful tips to help you turn back the hands of time and thrive from the inside out.

1.  Your body knows where you live!  Eat foods that are grown in your area, are in season, and, if possible, are organic. Your body knows what to do with food that is local to your area. When you’re eating foods from other geographical areas, it causes inflammation. Grassfed/finished meats will provide you with the healthy fats your body needs to perform well.

2.  Add Movement Each Day - this does not have to be hardcore; a brisk walk is wonderful. Consistency is key. Try to work up a little sweat. Think about our ancestors – they moved all day doing functional chores and did not struggle with chronic diseases.  Movement outside is the best way to move; no gyms if possible as you will be exercising under artificial light.

3.  Stay hydrated; adding electrolytes to your pure filtered water is a good idea. Try finding one without artificial sweeteners.  My favorite is Quinton Minerals.

4.  Go outside at sunrise or within an hour after and look toward the sun (never directly at it but about 30-50 degrees below). The sun’s rays are code for your body to produce the necessary hormones needed for optimizing your health. The full spectrum of the sun’s rays are crucial for all bodily functions so going outside at various times of the day will improve your health overall.

5.  Vitamin D is considered a hormone as it is key to optimizing your health. Vitamin D is produced in the skin from LDL cholesterol when we are in the sun under the UVB light (between 11:00am - 3:00pm). You need to pre-condition your skin in the sunrise light and the mid-morning light so you do not burn. D-Minder is a free app that will tell you how long you can stay in the UVB light before you burn.

6.  Sleep is critical to reverse aging. This is the time when our bodies regenerate and rejuvenate. Sleep is directly tied to getting the sun in your eyes first thing in the morning and throughout the day. As the sun sets, melatonin is released from the pineal gland to help you sleep throughout the night.

7.  Mitigate blue light from TV, computer, cell phone, etc. after sunset. There is an APP called Iris that you can download and it will direct you as to how you can use your computer at night. For TV, you may want to look into buying blue blocking glasses.

8.  It’s a good idea to wake up and go to bed around the same time each day.

Aging is a natural process, but with these simple, mindful choices, you can give your body what it needs to stay healthy at any age.
