At AZ Naturally, we intentionally source our tallow from cattle raised on a regenerative farm where they spend their lives grazing on pastures under the open sky. They eat a natural grass-based diet, breathe fresh air, are in the sunshine and live in an environment that supports both the health of the animals and the land itself.
Regenerative farming is about more than producing quality ingredients. It's about restoring the soil, respecting the animals, encouraging biodiversity, and working in harmony with nature rather than against it.
Unfortunately, not all tallow has the same story. Many cattle are raised in crowded feedlots, fed grain-based diets which may contain gmo's, and are sometimes given antibiotics and other medications because disease spreads more easily under those conditions. While these practices are regulated and food safety standards exist, they are very different from the regenerative approach that we believe in.
When cattle graze on healthy pastures, they're part of a thriving natural ecosystem. Their diet, movement, and environment all contribute to the quality of the tallow they produce. That's why we believe the source matters.
