Tallow

Happy cows grazing on grass.. the way Mother Nature designed it.

For those of you who may not know this.. tallow is one of the best moisturizers for the skin. Yes — Beef Fat!

While it may sound crazy to think of putting beef fat on the skin, we can tell you that there are amazing benefits to this age-old oil that has been used for centuries to keep the skin healthy.

Tallow contains the necessary vitamins and minerals our skin needs. It is rich in A, D. E, K and CLA and supports all of the conditions that may plague the skin. What’s interesting is that tallow resembles our natural sebum smooch (the oil produced by the glands in the skin). The resemblance means that tallow is usually well received by most skin types, doesn’t cause irritation, and can be beneficial for people suffering from dry skin.

We are animals! Using animal oil on the skin is one of the most nourishing ways to feed it.

One of the myths about using oil on oily skin is that the skin will produce more oil. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. In actuality, we have oil receptors in our skin to receive the needed properties of an oil-based moisturizer. When we are not giving these receptors what they are designed to receive, and may actually be putting on moisturizers that are drying to the skin, these oil receptors are producing more oil. So, while you may feel your skin is oily, it probably is because you are not letting the skin’s natural oils do their magic. Once these oils can do their job, your skin will become less oily. So, applying a really good oil to the skin is nature’s answer to a healthy complexion.

Our tallow is sourced from grass-fed, grass-finished beef, making it a good source of food for the skin. Fat from unhealthy cows can harbor unwanted bacteria, clog pores and basically contribute to unwanted breakouts. Just like eating beef from unhealthy cows does not promote a healthy body, putting tallow from unhealthy cows on the skin does not promote a healthy complexion.

Some of the others benefits of using tallow are:

  • Replenishes the building blocks that decrease with age
  • High in antioxidants
  • Anti-aging

We are also excited to be incorporating calendula oil in our tallow moisturizer. We make our own calendula oil using only the best organic olive oil and organic calendula. The nourishing benefits of calendula help to plump up the surface of the skin. It has both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties to protect the skin’s collagen and elastin supply.
